Lots of us F-body guys used to do it when we were close to some particular time and we needed all we could get. It was good for 1-2 10ths on average.

My short belt isnt the best routing, but it works for me. I have added an extra idler to go around instead of the P/S pump. The raceweight was really simple. Fiberglass roll pan, no tailgate, no spare, no front sway bar, Stock Aluminum wheels. That weight is with me in the truck. My truck is an SLE with power everything, even the seats are power. I guess its just light. Those times are with the 220 cam about a month after install.

well the only thing i don't have is power seats and i have a bumper on the back but i don't think that adds up to 200 lbs lol my race weight is 4340, i must need to go on a diet lol

On the short belt i will have to try that.

I run mine in a 'V' pattern from the crank up to the idler back under the waterpump up to the alternator. I have never done any back to back comparisons with and without it though. I do remember it being a real pain to turn with the 285's up front though.
