Short Belt

How Many People Short Elt Their Trucks @ The Track.

F8L Z71 08-08-2005 09:03 PM

Lots of us F-body guys used to do it when we were close to some particular time and we needed all we could get. It was good for 1-2 10ths on average.

v8 08-08-2005 09:05 PM

not me, so what is the configuration of the routing of the belt.

Quikenuf 08-09-2005 09:34 PM

I do I do!! Whats up guys? been a while since i got on the site. Man Its amazing how many people are making some really nasty set ups! LILRED is right, 1-2 tenths at the track is about right

v8 08-09-2005 09:41 PM

well are you just going around the crank and water pump or what lol

and quikenuf your times are without the 220 cam and how in the hell did you get down to the 4135 race weight?

storm5.3 08-09-2005 09:45 PM

Well spill the beans man !!!

Quikenuf 08-09-2005 09:46 PM

My short belt isnt the best routing, but it works for me. I have added an extra idler to go around instead of the P/S pump. The raceweight was really simple. Fiberglass roll pan, no tailgate, no spare, no front sway bar, Stock Aluminum wheels. That weight is with me in the truck. My truck is an SLE with power everything, even the seats are power. I guess its just light. Those times are with the 220 cam about a month after install.

v8 08-09-2005 09:52 PM

well the only thing i don't have is power seats and i have a bumper on the back but i don't think that adds up to 200 lbs lol my race weight is 4340, i must need to go on a diet lol

On the short belt i will have to try that.

I run mine in a 'V' pattern from the crank up to the idler back under the waterpump up to the alternator. I have never done any back to back comparisons with and without it though. I do remember it being a real pain to turn with the 285's up front though. :D

hrmm our 1/4 mile is straight lol hahhahaa, yeah i had a belt break once and yes very hard to turn. thanks.
