Default Replacing The Stock Fuel Pump

Iam having problems with my fuel pump i think but any ways i have like 70k miles on my truck and its an 02 4.8L. does any one know of an aftermarket fuel pump that would be a better up grade than the stock? what are the cons vs the pros to an aftermarket fuel pump. I already replaced the outer fuel filter. the problem i am having right now with my truck is the fuel gauge fluctuates when i am stoped. if some one can tell me the name and place to get an aftermarket fuel pump it would help me out alot thanks david

I cant remember for sure but I thought that problem was because of a sensor not the pump itself. Do a search on the subject. I think others have had this happen and have fixed it. If you do replace the pump I don't know what pump would be best, depends on your set-up.

You just need the fuel level sender. They are now available separate from the pump.

Or you can just ignore the gauge and use the odometer instead.

Your sending unit is bad. Esy fix just pull the bed off and pull the whole assembly out of the tank ans swap out the part that has the float on it. Took me and four buddies about an hour to pull the bed swap and put it back on.

Its not hard at all man. If oyu can do it in an hour then its easy IMO. Take the 6 or 8(cant remember) out of the bed, unplug the taillights from the wioring harness near the license plate so you dont ahve to take the taillights out and unplug all the bulbs, disconnect the filler neck and bam the bed is off. Then you can pull all the stuuf out of the tank. Then reverse the process.
