Default Raced a Ford Probe GT! Were they turboed?

First, was the GT model a turbo? When he shifted from 1-2, I heard the ffssssttt sound like I've heard from Eclispe Turbos so that's why I'm asking. Anyway. My family and I went out to dinner and were getting back on the freeway to take my daughter back to her apartment when the Probe goes by and revs (I think). We're both in the two lanes that turn into the freeway on ramp when I pull even. Mind you, my wife is in the back seat so I'm being subtle about this possible race. We both turn left to get onto the freeway on ramp and I hear him get on it pretty good so I do too. Then he punches it, as do I, I'm doing about 20 mph so my truck down shifts into first and we're off. I start pulling immediatly and I hear him shift (that's when I hear the ffsssttt sound). I hit second and keep pulling and by the time I hit the bottom of the on ramp, I'm a pretty good clip in front of him, about 8 truck lengths. My wife goes "were you racing him"? I said "no, he was racing me"! My daughter is in the back seat and said "that was cool, we were doing 95 mph" and my son in the front seat said "Yep, we were". After hearing that from the kids, the wife gives me the old "you better slow down!", so I do. The Probe slowly goes by me and the passenger looks over but the driver didn't. I'm not sure if it's worth bragging about but he picked on me and found out that trucks aren't that slow.

I don't think that the GTs were turboed but I could be wrong. Good kill Y2K!

I used to own one of those POS's, it was a 96. And no the GT's were not turboed. Unless it was an old one, from 90-92 they came with 4 cylinder turbos. Good kill anyway, those cars are pretty fast. And weighs about 1/3rd of your truck.

I have a 95 GT M5 as my daily driver. Got it from my uncle in good shape for 2000. Did not think I would like it, but it is actually a hoot to scoot in, handles good.

Fun to kill in the Z, but they are no contest even to a truck. I whooped a Probe GT (24V badge proudly emblazoned) in our fams stock Suburban from a dig, ricer boy spun like crazy, and his GF was laughing her head off, funny crap, LOL.
