I was thinking about taking off my lift and actually lowering the truck maybe a 2"x4" and taking off the Z71 stickers and the fender flares.
what do you guys think about that? it'd be like an all wheel drive sport truck. since i still havent overcome my need for speed and this damn thing is hell over 100mph on the freeways with the lift, it feels like it wants to tilt over.
so do you think there would be anything standing in the way of me doing this besides the large tires and lift?

When this question comes up I have always heard 'Sell it and buy a 2WD instead of spending the extra money to lower the 4WD'. Don't get me wrong, a full size Syclone would be neat(my dad has a low 11 second Syclone), but the time/money it would cost to lower a 4X4 may not be worth it. Isn't there a 12 second truck on this site like yours?

i got that 12 sec z71, it isn't lifted with big tires though, stock height and stock rims and tires. that lift and especialy bigger tires kill your et. screw what others think, i am going to do just what you said, drop it some and go with some sporty street tires. i am hoping to see 1-2/10's with wider shorter tires and a 1"/2" drop. the tires will be 3" shorter than stock so that will lower the truck another 1-1/2"
it cost almost nothing to drop these things, shackles in the back or take out the blocks and get some new u bolts. youmight have to do both to get a 4" drop. and for the front just turn down the tortion bars till your happy. you will probably have to cut down the bump stops some. 1-2" in the front wont be too hard. stickers got to go just so goof ***** don't give you a hard time about lowering a z71, what is a z71 anyways? a set of shocks ?

thanks for the input guys especially you parish8!
you helped me make up my mind!

Damn, here comes another name change. Just get the 2wd or trade Tony trucks since you two are going in opposite directions.
Tony- lifted 2wd
San-lowered 4wd
I have a headache. Must go drink beer.

do 2wd's have lift blocks like the 4wd? i bet they don't all you need to do to get 2" or so out of the back is take out those blocks and use shorter u bolts. then some shackles for another 2"
for the front you just turn down the tortion bars and maybe trim the bump stops, no one is going to sell a kit(prety sure).

Go for it man. I think that is a great idea, you will have the best of both worlds. O yeah if you can, post some before and after pics and keep us posted if you run into any problems.
