Hello I was woundering what type of oil brand and waight people use in there chevy gmc trucks with the 5.3l or 6.0l engines I use Castral 5w-30. Thanks all hope to here back from everyone.

i used to use the Penzoil Platinum till the last oil change....

but since i decided to start to spray the truck i am running Royal Purple 10w-30 with a Wix filter

 

i've always used castrol 10w30 and changed the oil every 3 months or 2500mi.
i've just recently switched over to mobil1 clean 5000 10w30 and still plan on changing it every 3 months or 2500mi. truck has 48k mi and has never burned a lick of oil with the numerous 6800 rpms it has hit in it's life.

 

In my old 5.3 I used 5W-30 Mobil 1 with an AC Delco filter with the anti-drainback valve. In the 383, I use Royal Purple 10W-30 with a K&N Oil Filter.

I just use conventional Castrol GTX 5W-30. Change every 3,000 or 3 months.

 

looks like maybe guys with some internal stuff need to run 10w30 or whats the deal? is it a myth these engines NEED 5w30?
