Lol, nice catch. Yes it’s a 2000. Thought I was in the 800 section. I’ll try to look around. Probably going to try different heads since 862/706 are known to have crack issues. Probably a 243 or 241

The castec heads usually crack around/under the center bolt holes and sometimes show a steam cleaned area on the head. I'd go back with the 706/862 heads to keep the better CR those heads offer. GM made non castec heads (without the little battery logo) Some machine shops weld then machine around the bolt holes weak area to prevent cracking. If you go on e-bay you can find info on the weld/machine work browsing through 706 listings.

Moved to the GMT 800 section.

You likely have 706 heads with the Castech logo. There are plenty of these engines in the Junkyard to get a another pair from. We just sent 3 of those heads to scrap that were cracked.

Here is the castech Logo. looks like a battery.

This is the other casting mark that are less likely to crack. With any heads that are being rebuilt, Have them pressure tested

Well Ron Catt quoted me 5800 to replace the heads. I pretty much laughed and said no thanks. Going to find another shop or just drive this truck to the ground. Too bad I just put a radix 112, new rotors, pads, and new suspension front and back.

Not even an engine replacement costs $5,800. They must pay their techs in gold bars or something.

Yeah, he started to name off the parts. I told him I don’t need this or that, I replaced that part already and so on. Probably can knock off some $ but when the estimate is starting at that price........
