Default No start after engine/transmission swap...

Got the base tune yesterday, installed the PCM and battery this morning. Cranks, but won't start and run. Has fuel, not sure how to check for spark on these newer engines. Something I noticed, as it is cranking - the oil pressure gauge does not move.

This engine was running in my other truck, and my current truck was running before the swap. I am kind of stumped at the moment.

Nothing special about checking spark, yank one plug and with it still hooked up to a wire just ground the tips of the plug on the exhaust manifold or something.

VATS could be keeping it from starting.

Why vats? I have a good friend telling me that I need to do a crank relearn. I do not have HP tuners or a tech 2.

I guess I am just dead in the water so to speak?

You can't do a crank learn with a non running engine, so that is not the problem.

I said vats because you remove the PCM from the vehicle, flashed it and put it back in and that very well could have caused the VATS to trip.

Other thing to check is spark and all IGN fuses that deal with that.

So a quick recap, two different motors, two different trucks. Take engine and trans from truck (A) and install into truck (B). My question is did you carry over the pcm from the "donor" truck, if so, try removing the key cylinder from the donor truck and install in the current truck that has the no start. Reason being is that the key is usually "keyed" to the pcm, and if a pcm has been swapped into another chassis and VATS was not removed (turned off), the pcm will enable VATS and not allow the vehicle to start

I didn't use the PCM out of my 2000. I kept the 2001 PCM with the 2001 truck. Just had the 2001 PCM reflashed to reflect the engine and transmission swap. My 2001 was originally a 4.8/60E truck.

Thought the Key was remembered by the BCM

Nope pcm as part of the vats.. The key that it remembers isnt the igntion key but tbere is a code between the vats module and pcm that is a security key code, that is a really long drawn out process of leaving the key on and turni g it off for 15 minutes at a time, but normally the engine will start and fire over for 2-5 seconds and then shut down...

How the was the pcm flashed? Was it a copy/paste from the 2000 to the 2001

That I am not 100% sure of, it was flashed on the bench. He said, "I took what was on this one - meaning the 2000 PCM, and made changes for the mods. Then loaded it on this one - my 2001 PCM."

So, that could be the case.
