went to the local hangout spot last night and there were at least 75 cars, some cool some kind of junky, it was a prety cool scene. after walking around and talking to a bunch of people it looks like there were only 4 cars out of that whole bunch that could beat me. does that seem kind of strange to anyone, a 5500lb truck being faster than that many hotrod cars? yea i have spent more than most(maybe all) of them but it still suprizes me.
the fast cars were a heads and cam ls1 camaro, an 03 cobra, a blown 01 salen, and that TA that i lost to.
this got me to thinking. i could build a 10sec vette but who would i race, i would be faster than eveyone on the street around here and what fun would that be, no one would race me, or i could just keep droping money on the truck. hmmmm. i think i have the truck running well enuff to keep it in the 12's even once it gets warm so now my new goal is going to be 11's. i have a back up vehicle so if it breaks i wont be screwed completly. people just **** them selves when they hear that my very stock looking, very common chevy truck runs 12's, how cool would it be to have it running 11's?
first goal get an intercooler from whipple(i hope) and run some good gas and push something nuts like 15psi into that stock 6.0 motor. that alone on a nice day might get me there

Thats a good goal but why dont you look for more weight reduction? And you should forge your internals to run more boost just and idea but i would like to see how much boost the stock short block could take

You should add a 100 shot on top of the 15lbs of boost. Screw 11's, go for 10's
Seriously, you think the 4wd will hook with that much boost? You might you have to wrap 4 ET Streets around the corners

i might just let it peal out, right now it launches like an 11sec car, just starts to fall off on the top, i need to fix that. if i go for too much traction i will break driveline parts for sure.

I see one problem: With an intercooler, you will see some loss of boost. It will be a cooler charge, but the pressure won't be as high. I seem to remember you saying something about spinning the whipple at its maximum rotating speed like you are. If you plan on upping the boost and adding an intercooler, it seems the whipple would be past its peak operating speed. Correct?
Why not try a different supercharger kit? A big procharger would be my choice. Add a good heads and cam to it, then see where that takes you. If you need a little nitrous to push you into the 11s, no big deal.
Also, look at replacing the stock truck rear with a 12 bolt from a 3/4 ton truck. Add some traction bars and forget about your front diff being weak. Get some 16x10 wheels with some fat tires on the rear.

Hmmmm. The Whipple makes great boost down low, but suffers up high. Centrifugal chargers make poor boost down low, but kick A up high.
I've seen dual Whipples on a big block 454 before. How about dropping the boost a little from the whipple, and add a centrifugal to the setup. Similar to the logic behind a twin turbo. One makes good boost down low and mid rpms, the other picks up in the mids and hits full boost in the upper rpms. Best of both worlds.

i am starting to believe that that it is just a rumor that whipples don't make good boost up high. they just don't build boost exponetialy. i am seeing a steady 8psi with i quick bump to 9psi right at the shift. i don't see anything wrong with that. an intercooler sounds prety cool but the price will be crazy i bet.
and as for spining the whipple to fast, well i have talked to some lightning guys and many of them spin the blower well past it's rated rpm. i get a diferent max rpm from the guys at whipple every time i call them. they don't seem to all be on the same page there.
new short term plan.... rebuild front diferential(new bearings and keepers), try that smc water/alkey injection kit along with some good gas and see how much boost i can get away with before detonation sets in. let the driveline or bottom end parts fly if i completly stay out of detonation the motor may last, i can see over 500rwhp with with that set up and 12psi. if i don't get greedy with traction(wider grippy tires) the driveline might last.
i wouldn't expect this to get me into the 11's but it might get me close, it all depends on how much the water injection helps me out, adding 2psi and race gas doesn't seem to do a huge amout for me.
