Default New mods planned for 14 sec XL 4x4.

I've been doing some thinking lately and I want to get my Yukon to run consistant mid 14's all motor. To date my best run has been a 15.6x, so with these mods I'm sure I can hit high 14's. From there I'll need to make more power.

1. 3000 Yank (stock stalls to 2100)
2. 4.10 gears front and rear. (stock I think is 3.73)
3. Mild cam, something like the 224/224 114.

Those things I think will get me into the 14's. After that I will be saving for a new 402 and some heads. I want to keep it fairly simple because I dont want to be stuck with a 10mpg daily driver.

I wouldn't change gears either. It's kinda costly to swap out 2 sets of gears to go from a 3.73 to a 4.10. The converter, some long tubes, and a milder cam should put you close. I'd bet the 402 to be a gas hog, I know the LS2 6.0's are thirsty, and my LQ4 isn't exactly economical.

You are going to need a 3600 or better stall to make that engine happy with a 224 cam in that heavy pig. A 222/224 in my truck needed a 3400 to come out hard. I would run the 212/218 with that 3000 with some lts. A gear swap on your turck is going to be a PITA, the damn front diff aint easy to pull out.

i would do all this and some lt but i would go with a little smaller cam 216/220 are 212/218 but the higher lift.the front diff. is not that hard to do it can be out it a 1/2 hour and is easyer than the rear.
good luck

Maybe an "old man" cam from thunder racing? I still have a 28' trailer and boat I tow alot so I cant go up on stall anymore. Really 3000 may be pushing it.

I don't think I'd want to tow that much with my TT3000. I got a cooler and keep an eye on my trans temps, but on hot days they creep up there.

i think the yank would be fine too tow with. its what i have and i tow just fine with it. maybe thats why the advertise it to hold stock towing capability. cam might be big for the pig though.
