Default New 1500 with 6.0L ?

Im in the market for a new truck and trying to find a crew cab 1/2 ton with a 6.0L . Wish they had a ss crew cab. Are there any options other than the 1500HD or the GMC Denali? I currently have a 2002 1500hd crewcab with a 6.0L and 4Ll80E. I like the engine and trans just dont need the heavy suspension and towing capacity. Does anyone know what trans is in the denali? 4l65E?

You are in luck! There is a new for 2005 option called "VHO" which is Vortec High Output. Puts a 6.0L motor in the std duty 1500. At first it was an option limited to some SW states but ask your local dealer ( no locale in your sig ). Make sure to stick to your guns as many salespeople are unaware of the VHO option.
The tranny is a 4L65E for both the Denali and newer trucks. Much better than the 60E but still not a stout as the 80E.
Try a search for "VHO" in this thread and the General Topics area for more details....

The VHO is only available in ext-cab shortbed 2wd trucks right now. If you can wait for a 2006 model I hear there is going to be the same option available for the 1500 Crewcabs, but only for 4x4 trucks. It's going to be called the "Vortec Max" power package or something like that.

Are you sure? I think the LQ4 still goes into the Denali.
