Alright I'm in need of opinions. I'm getting a job soon (in the next 2 or 3 days). I need some input on what I need to do or which would be better in the long run. I have a 5.3 with a couple bolt-ons. Should I go buy a 6.0 (short or long block) and take my time on building it or go ahead mod my 5.3 ( Heads, cam, manifold, injectors, etc..). I'm thinking with that many miles I should leave it be and go ahead and look for a 6.0 with low miles and get it up on the engine stand and start adding parts to it slowly but surely. What do you guys think? I'm all ears...

If you think it having 140,000 miles makes that much of a difference you should do some more reading.
Since your just now getting a job, i say save your money first. then mod your 5.3 then when you get bored with it, drop in a 6.0 and put those mods onto it.

Never said I knew how bad it would affect it. I guess I'm just used to the older motors that I drag race with. I'm reading and learning all I can about these newer LS motors. I just see a bunch of people on here with around 50K-101K and don't know many people on here with modded 5.3's with around 140K+ miles (not that I have seen anyway).

nah. these things are great. I'm at around 120k myself.
I've seen guys double that.
personally, I'd mod the 5.3 until you get bored and want more power. Then buy a 6.0 to start working on. Everything on the 5.3 swaps over, so half your stuff is already purchased.

I'm wanting to go with around 220/220 112LSA or 224/224 .581 lift and 3600 stall. I can get my heads ported, polished, and flowed by a guy here in town. What would be next? I have a walbro intank fuel pump. I'm getting the 160 stat tomorrow. and I plan on getting my E-fans when I go get it tuned. its $550 for a dyno tune here locally and the guy wants to keep my truck for TWO days???

160 stat isn't really going to do anything for you power wise. the truck will still operate at 190+-
Next on that list is a built transmission. I can't see why some dyno shops want to take 2 days to do a tune. It's not really that difficult to do if they know what they are doing.
Tyler tuned Danny's truck in a couple hours. And his cam is ridiculous.

Thats why I'm questioning this place. I've never even heard of them tuning before, but they say they use HPtuners. The only other guy around here is getting out of tuning. I would rather dyno tune but not somewhere to leave my truck for two days which is dumb. I may have to travel a couple hours or send my PCM for a mailorder tune. Will stock injectors be ok?
