You missed a thread that had some content that was not relevent to the site. No mods got involved for the first hundred or so replies. There was a lot of trash talk that wasn't provoked or needed to some members and mods. Then when the thread got moved, Admin posted another thread that really had a awkward tone to it and frankly it pissed a lot of guys off. That thread was moved due to where it was headed. A couple guys got into it with admin and the hammer was dropped on them. I have been working to make amends with the guys involved working as a mediator between them and admin. A rule that has always been at the top of this section was re-iterated and the name of this section was changed from the Truck Lounge to General Truck Topics in an attempt to curve the type of nonsense posts that got everyone so riled up. I don't need to get into specific quotes as to what happen since it is not relavent to this thread. I have openly said and asked that if anyone had a problem to please email me or PM me so it can be discussed. I have yet to recieve one email or PM from any member of this site or anyone that is upset over this other than the ones I sent to 3 people trying to calm the situation and it was working until they butted heads with admin. Hope that answers your questions. Some of the problems are being worked out, so I am not at will to discuss some of the details out of respect for the privacy of ALL the parties involved.

I have busted my *** trying to keep people from getting slamed, slandered, threatend, etc... I have had many emails and PM's in the past from people reporting this type of posting, and asked to intervine. But I have not had any regarding this latest situation. So for this I am being refered to as a ****. Joking or not, I take a lot of offense to that as any American should.

Guys, on the forum name, Tony is right, WE did ask for a change, but I'll be honest with you, I wanted it over a year ago. I never wanted it to come to this type of "explanation" If it had been this way from the beginning, maybe this thread wouldn't even exist. I said it once, and I'll say it again, I didn't see the need for two site lounges. Where is it in the rule that the General Truck section has to be TECH. It doesn't, just somehow related to Trucks, that's all.

You guys asked for a place to have General Truck related conversation, and you got it. Then we added two more section. Other section have been discussed and possible new ones are on the way as we grow. So we need and welcome your imput, but no need to slam and insult while doing it.

I think this site is by far the best performance and all around site there is. I only have one gripe. Make that 2 gripes.

1.- This is LS1tech. For LS1 vehichles i've been told, but the LT1 guys have a section, and the Dmax guys are included also. I brought up the fact that these trucks come with 4.3L stock, and that we should add a section for those guys, but got shot down.
2.- Tony, you have made a great site but you did blow off my requests about adding a section for the 4.3 guys. I brought this subject up a couple times and last i remember i was told "I'll get back to you on it"

I'll be the first to admit that I VERY rarely peruse any forums other than the truck section. I've tried posting in the tranny section, internal engine section, etc and gotten zero response from anyone, other than the occassional "use the search feature."

I hate to make generalizations, but it seems to me that a some of the "rest of the community" doesn't take us seriously. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from everyone bitching about the truck classes at that event (don't remember which one.) Again, maybe I'm over-generalizing here, but it's really the way that I see things.

Maybe we have gotten too comfy in our little truck section, but it's not that easy (for some, me included) to venture out into the "real world" and use the rest of the board.

Am I the only truck guy that doesn't post elsewhere on the site, or that has gotten little or no help from the "rest of the community?"

 

You bring up some very valid points and they are absolutly true. A truck doesn't seem to get noticed until we hit low 12's. I've been to all of the races with truck only classes and your right, the hardcore guys don't take us seriously. But by getting out more in the rest of the racing community on this site and earn some respect. Hopefully at Thunder this year we will really open some eyes. Hell, I'd have the 408 in if I didn't have a wife and 2 kids to give everything I make to. They come first. Yes, some of our threads and posts don't garner as much attention on the rest of the board, but with a little more exposure, they will. Lot's of guys get great info in the other sections. Nobody is going to move a transmission post about a truck into the tranny section. That's not where we are going with this. But you could ask it in both places and may get some info that the other missed. I've done that with LS1 Edit (unfortunantly I have not had time to mess with it lately).

 

We try our best to create forums that will have some decent level of activity. Do you feel that a V6 4.3L forum would be active on this site? I mean realistically, how many 4.3L owners purchase that type of truck with "performance" in mind? I've seen the 4.8L V8 guys get ragged on this site for buying the smaller V8, so how do you forsee the 4.3L guys getting treated here in a performance aspect? Or, are you just suggesting this new forum so that the 4.8L guys can have someone to pick on?

 

It has been brought up and was in discussion. It's not dead yet. On life support, but not dead. It just kind of got forgotten about. I'll bring it back up. If you don't feel like I give you a status soon enough, PM me and just ask me.

Nope just a pair of panty hose over the Helix and you will be fine. Take that restrictive MAF off while your at it.
