This isn't good .... This is EXACTLY what I was talking about in the other thread discussing the 'changes'. Changes begin to happen and people begin to leave, usually some valuable members. I think that most people keeping up with this thread will agree that HitMan contribited a lot to the site. He was always helping someone and giving some advice. More than likely it was well researched advice that had facts behind it to back it up, the best kind in my opinion.
As for the one(s) who got banned, from what I understand it's agreed on that it was a pretty much out of no where thing. I think it is odd that it took hell and high water for a certain member to get banned but whoever it is that got banned for giving an opinion, got hit very quickly. That's bad .... to me it shows that there is a little bit of 'god syndrome' going on. I don't know any details other than what I've read on here and I almost wish it to stay that way.
As for the root of the problems ... I think a lot of the 'knowledgable' folks here have gotten a little lazy lately. I know for myself I have slacked a little, especially since my trucj has been down for a while. I've noticed when it's down, I'm not usually on here as much. I think this is a wake up call to some of the users that we all need to pull our own weight around here. This site is known for the infinite knowledge and great support ... lets keep it this way before we loose some more valuable members.
HitMan .. I hate to see ya go ... you gotta dowhat ya gotta do though. I hope to still get to meet ya at some of the events though, if not from participation, at least as a spectator.

Wow, for the amount of time that I spend on this site, I am clueless as to what is going on. I do have to say that Hitman and Illnali will be missed. They gave many a good bit of info that I actually used. I did notice the title of the forum changed, and it sounds a lot less loose than the "Lounge"
Could someone clue me in please?

It's been stated that there is a racers lounge, post there. There is also a For Sale/Parts Wanted vs Truck classifieds!? The reason I think more of us "truckers" would like to have our own section is that we are more familiar with each other than with the rest of f and y body guys. Frankly, I feel most of them guys don't take us seriously at times. Just my point of view.
Hitman and Illnali, you will definitely be missed. Hope you re-consider.
Chingon-Pa' donde se van todos y que pedo traen si se puede saber?

i think what people here are compainin about is that u broke up what we had here in the "truck lounge". people would come on here during work, school, or whenever to **** around and have a good laugh. the mods changed all this without asking the people who make this site what it is, what they thought should be done. not even their suggestions or opinions.

This to me is really just a place to go when I am in a jam working on my truck or looking for ideas that others have come up with to find better performance or nicer appearance.
Recently I was asked to look over the appearance section. It is not something I benefit from. I did it because over the past three and a half years this site has helped me learn tremendously. If those who have helped me need my help, sure I will do it. I did not do any of my mods to magically become a "cool" or "hip" moderator -trust me it wouldn't be worth it.
I understand how things seem to have changed. I have noticed the business side to the forum more lately as well. However, you have to wonder what makes a site like this grow so well. It is the pure performance knowledge that users share and their respectful conduct they use to get the message accross.
In the end for us, it is a computer forum like ACDenali said. I say feed off of the great free information it provides and continue to share your own intuitive information to help others learn. If you post no more, I know you will check this forum for information some time or other when you encounter a LSx problem. And that's cool -that is what this forum is for.
PS. don't leave guys! Believe it or not I have learned from you
And if no one else hears from you, I hope you at least read this... - Thank you guys for helping myself and others!

From: Right here at my laptop, DUH!
i was browsing through the forums and noticed this thread , and thought i might offer a bit of insight from an "outsider's" point of view. i was a member of (and still am) thirdgen.org. they took away the lounge and locked down tight the threads /posts with a military style method. it's become a "tech only " site and has lost members in droves.you can cut down on some of the BS that goes on (like posting in every forum whining about the cost of a magazine) but don't overdo it . i pretty much "lurk" on thirdgen but don't post much because of it.on the flip side , users , staying within the guidelines and not resuming to guerilla childlike tatics will help to keep your site the way you enjoy it . there's a section here in this website (not the truck section or the racer's lounge) that is a complete waste of URL space and really needs to be cracked down on. it's that kind of behavior that ruins it for everyone else. they don't care what happens until it is (and it will be) taken away. what happens then?BOTH sides lose .I think maybe the mods and admins have realized they lost and the users have lost. it's a real shame , too.oh , just so you know , my other vehicle is a '95 chev dually with a few tricks up it's sleeve, so us "F-Body" guys might be one of you ,too. i hope i provoked a little thought here from both sides of the fence.keep your chin up, guys

One thing has been asked here.
Please post NON-TRUCK related material in the Racers Lounge. That is all. There is no CRACKDOWN on people. Frankly I'm tired of getting blamed for it when it is not happening.
Chingon, you say you can't lock or unlock a thread. That's why this one is still open. I am trying to help come to a solution. But instead, I am accused of using my "Godlike" powers and going gestapo and cracking down on everything?!?!?!? Those threads were not ereased, they were put in the archives. It's not that every thread here has to have some type of value, but why does a thread need to be started at 3:00am and explode to 100 posts in 20 minutes with eventual slams to members and moderators when they haven't even had a chance to post in the thread. I mean there were some comments in there that were not provoked or needed.
This whole thing has exploded because of one thread getting locked and the ensuing parties got into it with site admin. I tried to work out a solution on that one to. Ask both of them.
A solution that will make EVERYONE happy won't be possible, but maybe we can come close. But I guess it's OK for you guys to slam us when NOT ONE TIME HAVE I ATTACKED ONE OF YOU !!!!!
It's time to quit pointing the finger and try to find common ground that everyone can live with. You guys think that is possible without all the drama?

Hit Man, sorry to see you leave. You have been helpful on the site.
I've read this entire post and I have to say that some of you are only getting one side of the story. Thats fine, and I doubt we will be able to convince you otherwise, but I feel we at least owe you some sort of explanation.
FUN.
We absolutely want to have fun on this site. This is one of the busiest online automotive communties on the net. We do not have "****" moderators here, we let people get away with far more than most sites. Hell, we can even say **** and **** and speak like adults here. But, one thing we do not tolerate here is **** or non-work-safe material to be posted. This is the one firm rule we will always enforce. If you post an image or link that is not "work-safe", you are pushing us.
BANNING
As for two specific members getting banned on this site, you guys are also not seeing both sides of the story. LM7 was banned based on a series of events, and had been pushing it for the last month or so. In fact, there had been talk of banning LM7 for at least a month prior to this happening, due to his actions on this site and his constant actions messing with our staff members. It was uncalled for. And, when we did ban him, he took it upon himself to re-register about 10 different new accounts to harrass the site. In our 3-year history here, NOBODY has been so immature and did such a thing. Hard to justify a member's credibility if they are always bending the rules here and harassing our staff, as well as causing trouble after they have been banned.
As for MAC, I gave him 30-days off for personal reasons. I was pissed off a the time and he knew it, and he personally attacked me and basically was asking to be made an example of. Here is a hint for some of you, don't be rude and talk **** to the owner of a website. That would be like someone walking into your house and disrespecting/talking **** to you. Are you going to invite them inside for some tea, or boot their *** out the door (or worse)? Put yourself on both sides of that series of events and ask yourself how you would have handled it. But, I've calmed down since this happened, and will openly admit that I possibly jumped the gun on banning him for a month. Mac, if you are reading this, email me at ynot_dv8@hotmail.com and I'll discuss things with you and possibly bring you back on soon.
I'm not known for being unfair around here, in fact, it takes quite a bit to **** me off. Our truck staff members have been very fair in most cases, and they were tired of the same few members causing problems. After reading a few threads that they provided links to, it was very easy to see that LM7 needed some time off. His further re-registering to harrass us multiple times also confirms that fact. LM7 was banned permanently after these harrassing re-registers, but Greg worked out an agreement with him. If LM7 would respect our original banning period of 1-month, we would reinstate his account. So far, he has agreed, and we will keep our word.
FORUM NAME
Do not blame me for the forum name change. This was done upon mutual agreement of the truck staff members. They are the ones that interact daily in these forums, I didn't just step in and impose a change here. I didn't have anything to do with the name change, it was their decision as a group. All of our truck staff members want you guys to interact more with the rest of the site. I don't see a problem with that, so why be snobs about it? All of us share the same interests here, especially when it comes to what is under the hood. Its not like you cannot post fun threads in this forum, we only ask that they be about trucks. Politics, TV/Movies, bikini threads, etc... are for the Racer's Lounge. Try it out guys, its not that bad. You guys are making too big of a deal about it.
Keep in mind that I was the original one that set up these truck forums on this site. I was the one that wanted several different truck forums here. On most performance sites, you guys only get ONE forum for all of your posts. Give me a little credit please, I am trying to make this place good for everyone.
