Default This maybe my last straw, she left me stranded

So driving from SE Alabama to NC, my flt 4 xmsn took a ****, most likely some error on me and not them cause they make awesome xmsns. That being said It probably anothe 3k for a xmsn my engine had metal shavings in the last oil change so gonna need a new one of those soon to, got a vaccine leak some where in this thing, my rear axle tube cracked from the axle wrap from 15 psi being thrown and it and getting caught to late, all that and the body has rusted out rocker panels and box fenders?

What y'all think have the xmsn rebuilt and throw the d1 in a newer tuck? That's not lifted so damn high?

I have never seen someone refer to a transmission as an xmsn... that took me a second.

I mean it sounds like the truck is kind of rough. Maybe it is time for a newer one. As far as the transmission goes, my guess is it was under filled. I dont know what you could have done to kill an FLT 80e with a 5.3 taking 15LBS from a procharger otherwise. It should take that power without breaking a sweat.

yeah my bad its short hand at work for transmission, i agree that it should have been no problem for it, just in the middle of moving accross the country so no tools or a place to work on it

Xmsn is a pretty common abbreviation for transmission. May be just an army or aviation thing though.

Anyway, making a lifted truck fast is twice as hard on parts as a lowered one. The transmission breaking might have caused an engine thrust issue. If you do decide to fix it, I would have the 80e looked through (MWR on base should have an auto shop with a highly discounted rate), and get some traction bars to keep the axle under control. The 80e is pretty easy to set up actually once all the VB stuff is done. You can replace the clutches and steels for around $100 total.

Who installed the transmission?

Reason I ask is that transbuilder guy has a video on his FB page that shows where someone installed the wrong cooler-line fitting, thus causing a fluid flow issue.

Just a thought.

Chuck installed thoes for me when he shipped it out. Over christmas i had the truck back home in WI and it stalle dup to 6k at about 15-20, instantly got out the gas, truck stalled out, xmsn temps went up about 30*, and then fired it back up and didnt have an issue again untill i was back in AL, when in the mornings when it was cold it felt like 1st gear was half engaged and would get a stall of about 3,500 on it, it a yank 3200MD btw, also it started to take a while for it to go into reverse, so it continued i notice some oil around the tcase coupler, but fluid levels looked fine, yes, i bought a new 80E dipstick and tube, put it on the lift the night before i left AL, and re TQ'ed the pan on it to make sure it wasnt that, started my drive, about 200 miles in the oil a was a little low, added some oil, forgot to have it running though, about 500 miles in kinda had a stall, so i checked the fluid not thinking about the area it was parked was park on a slight up hill, and right after that pulling back onto I-20 the there was a howling at round 30-50 MPH made my D1SC sound quite, so i went to an autozone, to get extra oil incase it needed more later, check the pan TQ, notice a bit extra oil. checked oil, fine, pulled the TQvert cover, then once i tried to go fast enough where it want 3rd, that when it started being all fucked up.

So it would enage third for about 2 seconds then back to 2nd then back to 3rd then back to 2nd, continuously. so i limped it to a Uhaul for a trail ler, to long so i got it towed 230miles.

Well after i sent the transmission back to FLT chuck got it cleaned up, found that the case was cracked, most likely during shipping. So he replaced to the whole thing for me i just had to pay shipping. Here is a pic of the new transmission, and the torque converter. TQ'verter got sent back to yank and got new clutch pads also. So after 4 months my truck will finally be under its own power again.

Once i started bolting it up i found out the reactor flex plate i had was incorrect, so i had to take it back out and put the 6.0L stock plate and spacer back in. Only 3 of the 6 bolt holes lined up, that what started the questioning, then after calling yank they said to check the pilot coming out he back of the converter and see it it mates up with the crank. well it didn't. so basically if i wouldn't have found it, it could have been out a center and when it fired up or reved it up would have shaken, possibly shredded my new transmission. Well that what my brain came up with anyways.

new plate in a pretty in there

you can see the space betwwen the pilot and the flexplate and the crank snout
