Default Door Latch........

. or whatever it's called. Door(s) don't always shut smoothly, infact drivers side never does; I've replaced the door hinge pins then adjusted the striker pins every which waybut never getting to the proper point. So my next theory is the door latch, not sure what it's called, I understand that they can get stubborn with age.............

I've used lithium grease, WD-40 will attract dust and it will dry quickly.

Likely though, the internal latch/spring dealio or whatever becomes weak and doesnt allow the door to shut very well or just doesnt work at all. I had a my drivers side rear door on my crew cab pretty much break on my this past winter. I could shut the door and it would pop right back open, then sometimes it would close but I could grab the top of the door and still open it, it even open after I locked the door.

I removed it from the truck and cleaned it up the best I could, made it work a few times and it went right back to not working again.

I bought a new one off rockauto for like 70-80 bucks.

I looked them up for your Sierra and man are they alot of money on rockauto, the door lock actuator assembly with new latch over $150. Perhaps shop around and see who has the best deal or hit up a junkyard and see if any of the trucks have one. They are different between keyless entry and no keyless entry. Maybe take yours with you to match up.

apply it to that striker that you have circled. you need to get it down inside where it pivots then work it in by closing the door over and over. it will eventually work the grit out

Cool- doors close much better now. Next issue is wind noise- I may as well have the windows half down. Was thinkin' that the doors aligned would help this, or am I doomed to new seals from LMC or somewhere..........

First, Identify where the wind noise is coming from. There are small things you can do in certain areas to aid in noise reduction.
