Default Made a few 1/4mile runs

1st run
60ft 2.34
1/8mile 9.98 at 71MPH
1/4mile 15.52 at 88MPH

2nd run
60ft 2.30
1/8mile 9.96 at72MPH
1/4 mile 15.56 at 88MPH

I had wheel spin but do yall think these are good times? It is also 80degrees so I would imagine that hurts a little.I have ran a 15.24 in the 1/4 and a 9.61 in the 1/8 mile before but I can not seem to do it again. I just want to be able to run consistant 15.3's.What do yall think?
Later guys

The Y-Pipe on those trucks is TINY. Buy some long tubes, and run true duals w/X-pipe. That should get you where you want to be, and long tubes for those is cheap.

At least the times are extremely consistant, keep moding and it will run hard in no time.

It has true duals now,it came this way from the factory.I wonder if longtubes will get me in the high 14's to low low 15's.I have pretty much done all the bolt ons I can do.Now I would have to open up the engine and put a cam and heads on it but I dont want to do that.Longtubes will probably be coming soon.If I get a bigger y-pipe I know it will help HP alot but will it hurt my lowend torque?I love the lowend my truck has.
Thanks for the help guys.

Long tubes and dual 2.5" pipe will give you much better top eng power. It wont affect low end much. Ever thought about a stall convertor? They are also cheap for your truck. You could put a cam in and get some more power, but those vortec heads are pretty good as is. It wont be long before your down in the 14s. Those old 5.7s are torque monsters.

Before the gear swap it put down 245rwhp and 326rwtq on the dyno.I was kind of surprised with the torque numbers.I would love to be able to dip into the high 14's,even a 14.99 would satisfy me.By the way my truck has 180,000miles on it with original engine,I did a compression test on it and the highest reading was 168 and the lowest was 165,so it is in perfect shape and it also burns no oil at all.I would like to do a cam but I am afraid of opening a can of worms, cause things might go wrong with as many miles are on it.But I have heard that it won't hurt it.What kind of can do you recommend for my year model?
Thanks for the help

Longtubes are leaving a lot to be desired over the short tube headers. I went from shorty headers to LTs on my F150 and noticed a big difference in power from idle to about 2500rpms. I'd for sure look for a set of those next. I believe Doug Thorley makes a good quality set that's not too expensive.

A mild stall converter like a 2400-2600 will help your times too.

Maybe a BBK TB? GMS MAF?

You can't go too much on the cam as the heads don't flow enough from my memory. I'd keep lift around .480-.510 or so. 114LSA. Maybe a 214/220 grind...I like that split a lot. That's gonna be a solid 20rwhp and keep a good bottom end.

Now a set of Edelbrock 170cc E-Tec's on there you'll be well into the 14s with a proper cam.

I have a grannatelli MAF but acually feels like it loses.I also heard that with a stock cam the bbk throttlebody will not do anything but hurt also.

Ah well I'd ebay that MAF and your shorty headers. That will fund the headers. Those are links to the Thorley and Bassani setups. No pics but they are made. You could always port the stock TB.

Maybe Hooker makes a set also?

If your bottom end is in that good of shape, I'd see no reason not to do at least a cam swap and maybe some ported Vortec irons or some E-Tecs. Remember that stock Vortec intake manifold sucks badly.

Electric fans can free up a tad of power too.
