Default lq4 w/ 243's..what head gasket? ls1 or lq4?

cant find a thread stating what head gasket should be used..im thinking a lq4 headgasket should be used since the bore is bigger then the ls1 headgasket or should the headgasket match the combustion chamber?? not 100% sure tho...

You never want to use a gasket smaller than the combustion chamber.

alright. awesome. so the 6.0 gasket it is then..i think my mind is still caught up on my old 4.8. i was told to run ls1 gaskets with the 243 on the 4.8 so itll match the cumbustion chambers.

Always match the bigger of the two. For example, LS3 heads on 6.0; Use LS3 gaskets.

In your case, run the 6.0 gaskets, 12589227.

Keep in mind, 243s were used for LS2s and LS6s....GM used different gaskets only to match the cylinder bore.

Shouldn't have any PTV issues. Just be sure and check pushrod length. You can run any gasket with 4.000"+ gasket bore. You can customize compressed thickness with a Cometic gasket for desired compression or run a factory .051" thick 12589227 GM gasket.
