if i have to pull the engine to fix an oil leak a stock engine won't be going back in. already looking for another 6.0.

looks like this is my problem. talked with a friend about what is going to happen with the LQ4 build and it's on hold until my ford gets it's new engine. haven't even looked to see if i can lower the pan enough to change gaskets or RTV it. can i?

Ya, you should be able to change it in the truck. A dab of rtv at the corners of the pan gasket is common but don't reuse the old gasket and be sure to replace the cooler adapter gasket at the same time.
