Default LQ4 oil leak

truck is nearing 200k and has been problem free the entire time. recently it has started to leak oil. i got under it today to take a look and am not sure what is leaking.

looks like right here.

right here to be exact

from farther back

what is that that looks like it is leaking? is that just a simple gasket?

Check higher up. Mine was leaking at the valve cover gasket and leaked down exactly like that.

That is the oil cooler adapter. If you had an oil cooler there would be lines going to the radiator. Its a gasket in there that is leaking. Easy fix.

You will loose a little when u unbolt it. Just clean both surfaces good and refill oil level.

It's got full pump pressure when running and you will lose a little bit when you take it off, all the oil will fall from the passages above so it will make a mess if you're not careful.

change that gasket next time you change your oil. The only be a little oil in the oil cooling lines. Easy fix

It's above your oil pan , your hardly going to lose any oil unless you change while it's running

If the adapter gasket doesn't fix it its probably the oil pan gasket. There are two pressurized ports integral to the oil pan that feed and return oil from the oil filter. I've seen these leak before.
