I think split blocks is a relatively common problem with high horsepower stock 5.0 blocks. I've heard of that before.

Yeah, the 302 is pretty weak in FI...I bet Ford never though that motor would be making that much power ever. 
The much beefier 351W is better...taller deck, better casting = holding 800rwhp no problem from what I have seen.
