Should i buy a 4.8 5 speed truck instead? i miss shifting and beating the **** out of it, the 5.3 and the auto has tons of power, i love it, but i miss shifting, and dumping the clutch. will i lose a lot of power though? i plan on transferring all my bolts ons.... plus long tubes eventually, and then a custom tune... all opinions welcome.. thanks

 

I personally don't think the 5.3 stock is that much stronger than a 4.8 stock. Does it have less power yes but not by much. Look at some of the other 4.8 on here they are producing good power. But, don't expect to beat on the tranny to much it will eventually give up on you.

 

My 05 5.3 EC would run circles around my old 03 4.8 EC.

 

i have to disagree the 5.3 seams stronger than the 4.8. i walked on a stock single cab and all i had on my truck was a MAC cai and my heavy *** 18" wheels

Go for the cubes....+ the standard trans is not that good for performance.

 

BUT, it might make it easier for putting in a 6.0 w/T56
