The 4.8 isnt THAT much slower. You shoulda seen the look on the guys face that barley pulled away from me in a mustang GT stick last night. 4.8's get the job done

i think that the 4.8 5 speed will stay with a 5.3 auto but the tranny won't take abuse to long.I would have waited to get a 5.3 but the price was right on my truck.

The 5.3 Over The 4.8 Most Of All Is Tq I Have Seen Some Very Fast 4.8 Trucks With Auto Trans. I Personal Would Not Buy A 4.8 Are A 5 Speed Unless I Had A Plan Later To Put A T56 With A Bigger Motor Every One Is Different.

The only reason to get the 4.8 is if you are going to swap it out for a bigger motor.
