Default Looking at a 2000 5.3 Silverado have ?'s

I've been looking for a new project/toy ever since I finished my 03 Supercharged C5z build and I came across this truck. It's a 2000 Silverado 5.3 Stepside. It has 280,xxx miles and the body is in great shape. While talking to the seller he stated the truck needs a new power streering pump as it whines a little and shocks to hold the bed cover up need replaced. I talked him down to $2300, he was asking $2600. Is this a fair price? What are somethings I need to look/need to know for while looking at the truck?

If I get the truck I plan on tinting the windows, lowering, Cam,headers, Bogarts and leather seats to start off. Any thing else I should add?
Here are a few pics

If you don't buy it, I will at that price. The bed looks to be in very good condition. How does the transmission shift? With those miles, that would be one of the main items I would be checking and budgeting for.

Seller stated that the motor and trans are good. I will not know until Monday when I go look and drive it. If everything checks out it will be in my drive way monday night.

I think 2600 is a great price! what GM power steering pump doesn't whine a little? If the engine has been maintained, then it's still should be running fine. Tranny is always hit and miss. Doesn't look like any body rust from the pictures - make sure to check those rocker panels and rear wheel wells. Also check bottom of doors, specifically on the inside.
