has anyone on here gotten their letter from GM about the tailgate cables? i recieved a letter a few weeks ago that says the real deal will come later in the summer but if my cables are broken then i can get temp replacements. my dealership here is a bunch of crack heads and i dread going back down there to deal with them. if anyone got the letter like i got, have you gotten any temp replacements so far?

 

Yup I got it too, I only load my bed with ice chest of beer, lawn chairs, and bags of clothes!

 

I got it aswell. I will probably take in sometime this summer.

 

yup i got it a couple weeks ago....they said they were gunna send the REAL recall sooon?

 

is either one broke now? according to the letter you can have them replaced at no cost and then when you get your real recall you can go get the upgrades? i am gonna go monday i guess and get temp ones cause i use my truck as a truck and it sucks taking the TG off to load stuff.

 

yup... i heard the cables break really easy..... right after i got the letter i went out to my truck, chopped down lightly with my hand and the cable broke in two. i feel sorry for the people where it completely falls off

 

I just got my letter yesterday. I haven't had any cable problems, but last year my tailgate latch got stuck in the open position, I had to pull on the gate every time I closed it, to make sure it was latched. Once I was pulling out of the driveway, and when I hit the gas the tailgate flew open, I thought I broke something for a sec.

 

my cables broke a long time ago. my wife was loading my atv in the truck for me, and bam, them bastards snapped. she aint no big woman either. luckily i was there to catch the 4 wheeler and push her and it into the truck. that would have been a nasty fall backwards otherwise.

 

I was thinking about just that, if they broke when I was loading my atv or my sled it could do some damage. Did it wreck the tailgate any.

 

I havent' gotten this letter? Is it specific to the models or the year? I have a 2000 SCSB Silverado, if I can get them replaced im all over it. Would someone scan their letter in and send it to me via email at tranzfourmd@yahoo.com

Id really like to know why I didn't get one.. Maybe cause I bought the truck used???
