I can't believe I misspelled illumination.
I tried to use that spot for connections on mine too but they were already taken by some accessory so I used the dimmer for the dash lights but it is not the best option. I have to turn my lights on during the day or my gauges don't work. I can dim my guages but if I dim them too much the voltage drops and they will not work correctly because they are digital and do not have a separate circuit for lighting. The only thing is I can shut them off if I need to be stealthy. One of these days I will change them.

BadAssChevy327 - I think you can buy connectors to fit those pins? Check with your auto parts store.

under the steering column is a fat pink wire... that is active when ignition is keyed on, and when you crank.. it dosent lose power (like your radio and the rest of your accessories do).

Do you have a pic of this wire? I need to find it to connect the nitrous and purge noids to it too.

You can use standard Metripak 280 series connectors.

I also used this same source (see post #3): https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=265663

That is the same spot I used, but I bought the connector from dealer for about $15.

Same one I used. I also had to use a white wire in my headlight control panel to control the lights on my autometer gauges. Didn't want them running all the time....only when my headlights were on.

Sorry to bring up an old post. Is this the best place to find a 12V switched source? Or is the fuse box on the drivers side a better location? Anyone have pics of where they hooked up? and what kind of connector was needed to fit??

I have used here and the driver side fuse box for taps. I define 'best place' as anywhere I can tap an electrical feed without splicing a wire.
