What size tires do you have? 275/45-20? 285/50-20? You might be OK with the 275 tires but you will probably rub in the front if you have 285 tires. The backspacing on the wheels will make a difference too. We need specs on your tires and wheels.

tires are a 275/45/20 and i have looked a few places about the wheels and can only find it saying a offset of 14 so i dont really know what that means

The offset and backspacing relate to an extent, but we will also need the width of the wheel.

the wheel is a 20 x 8.5 with a 275/45/20 and a offset of 14 (whatever that means). ive heard that i will need a 275/40/20 tire or maybe a 255/45/20 i really want to go with a 4/6 drop

yes sir you will need a 40 series tire!! If you go with a 4/6 drop. We learned the hard way at heat way. The sidewall of the 45's went to hell.

He doesn't neccessarily need a 40 series tire. all the 40 number is is a percentage. He could buy a 335/40/20 and those would be way to big or he could buy a 255/45/20 and those would work much better.

I'd say go with a 255/45/20 I run a nitto 255/55/18 and it's a great street tire to go with my 5/7.

245/40/20 IMO. The wheels you have have a slightly smaller backspace than the ones I have and mine are real close to rubbing over bumps on the back(they don't though). You can roll your fender lips though and then could probably run the 255/45/20 suggested above.

or you could go with a 255/40 up front and a 275/40 out back. either size^^ you go with you shouldn't have any trouble.
