I have 2 general questions...

1. this past weekend, when hauling my 5th wheel with my 1500, i noticed that my tranny temp was topped out at 202 degrees, with outside temp being 90 degrees and it was on an uphill climb, speed of 70 and rpm 5000. i can't find in my manual what a top operating temp could be. are u guys seeing higher tranny temps?
2. i purchased my truck used with 48000 miles, i now have 61000. i got an offer in the mail about a tranny service. i checked my tranny fluid and it was still pinkish red. do you think at 61000 miles it would be brown if it has never been changed or go the safe route and spend the extra money to be on the safe side?
thanks

Def need to get a tru-cool 40k (or similar size) cooler on there.
As far as the trans service most just pull the pan and change the filter.Adding all new synthetic fluid has shown to make the trans start slipping if it hasnt been changed on a regular basis..
I towed my 24' camper back home from tx a few weeks ago and with the outside temp at 101* the trans never cracked 160*

I agree on the TRu Cool 40,000, I pull an enclosed trailer (7500 lbs) with an Escalade ESV-heavy mother-and seldom see the tems exceed 170 on an uphill pull. Plumbed through the existing radiator, also helps if you are in northern climate, it is an easy install. One of the members on the forum has a package with all the brakets/fittings for a quick clean professional look.
