Guys, putting together parts for a hydroboost setup.

Will a power steering pump from a 2002 2500HD bolt up to my 03?

 

Supposedly. It may be a half *** answer, but it's an answer dammit.

 

Yes it should. You could also use a pump and brake booster from a Denali or Escalade if they are easier to find in your area.

Thanks for the input and links guys. I've been reading on it for couple years now. I have the hydroboost unit and master from an 03 now. I know I could make my current PS pump work by just T'ing into the return line but I have also read that the pump is a bit stouter for the hydroboost setup. Dunno, but why chance it. I know I have read about pump shafts breaking on hydroboost trucks, hopefully they put a fix in the newer pumps. I plan on buying the lines new from GM.

 

On my moms 05 (maybe 06) suburban she had all kinds of problems from the factory Hydroboost setup!! She took it into the dealer 3 times...

 

I'm going to take a chance. Chance that I may have issues with the hydroboost that I can fix, or live with having no brakes immediately going from boost to brake

 

Yeah I would say the first option sounds better.
Though I did have an issue with a 97 7.4L not having power assisted brakes because the power steering pump ate itself. I drove through the McDonalds yard and parking lot to avoid hitting the person in front of me. No big deal

 

Keep us updated. I'm very interested in doing this as well...I'm sick of doing the sy/ty shuffle at the track and having low vacuum for the brake booster.

 

HA! The Sy Ty Shuffle. Haven't heard that in a while,...but hey, it does work for a coulple more PSI on a boosted launch
