Yup that's right We ended up with a 2WD Z71 package on our truck. Did not even know that was posible. this Was a special order since the only thing close to what we wanted was a deisel optioned truck. We asked for 4x4 wich I think is how we got Z71 package but The guy screwed up when he ordered it and it came in as a 2WD.

We got it before they stop taking orders for the new body style in 07. other wise we would have had to wait until they started taking orders for 08.

They could not discount the deisel option enough and we don't tow any thing to make that big of a difference. plus when your talking about spending that kind of money you should get what you want. we usually keep our stuff unless it gets stolen or totaled. even then I still bought back the last one that got totaled..

Any way I wondered how rare something like that would be???

 

does it say z71 package on the invoice? or just a sticker on the bed? I didn't even think Z71 was a 3/4 ton option?

 

It does say Offroad package as a $600 upgrade has the sticker on the bed too! This is a new body style. Sits as high as a 4x4, has 4x4 style hubs that are splined in the center just no case, front diff, or axles... Weired

 

2007 was the first year the 2500HD trucks could get the Z71 option, and yes, for some gay reason it is available on 2wd's as well. You can get 2wd Z71 on the Suburban, Tahoe, Colorado/Canyon and 1500's too.

I've seen a couple around here and on car lots, so I don't think they are too extremely rare. Most are probably from dealer ordering screw-ups like what happened to you.

nothing gay about a z71 2wd to me, If I had a 2wd Id want the z71 package, peice of mind having the extra skid plates under there from road garbage

 

Well they are 1000% gay to me. I consider it false advertising. The extremely creative folks at GM should have come up with a different rpo code & sticker to avoid situations like the one above.

 

This is no different than Toyota, who has offered TRD offroad packages on 2wd Tacomas for years.

 

agreed, honestly I find it pretty sad if you cant figure out for yourself if the truck is 2wd or 4wd with out a sticker on the bed telling you, not only that the new Z71 4x4 actually say 4x4 on the Z71 sticker, 2wds just say z71
