Default how high do you rev?

i have a stock 5.3 motor right now, just hypertech programmed. i set the limiter to 6300 and the shift point to 6200, it screams that high in second gear, but it actually makes a BIG diffrence. Any one else do something like that?

According to the hp/tq numbers of a factory 5.3L peak hp is made at 5200RPMs. I have mine shifting at 5800RPMs (approx 38mph on 1 - 2 shift) and rev limiter set at 6000RPMs. I've played around with the shift points setting them higher and lower and setting the shift points 5800RPMs is where I get the best 1/4 mile times.

when yall say you shift at those rpm's, do you mean youre manually shifting your automatic? and isnt that very bad for it?

It's not bad to shift it manually. It won't hurt anything. I do it from time to time.
Get that damn Nelson Tune already!!!!!!

5200 with a stock tune probably. A custom tune will allow the engine to make more power up to 6000-6200. Though that's about it.
