Default How common are craked dash boards on the 99-2007 trucks?

I just bought a really clean low mileage 2003 silverado. Yesterday my damn dash cracked right above the steering wheel. I know this is a common issue on the 2007 and up tahoes and trucks. Is this a common issue with this truck also? Mine has the center console also.

It's news to me , none of my trucks past or present have ever had a cracked dash . The GMT-400s had a lot of them though .

I've personally never seen one crack before. Every single truck I've ever owned of previous generations have had one or multiple cracks.

Having said that, I have yet to see a cracked GMT900 dash, even though everyone says it happens all the time.

How hard is it to swap the dash? Is it one piece or can you swap out just the top section under the windshield?

Just the top section comes off. Take off all the bezels and covers and remove the screws holding it on.

Does anyone have a part number for the filler portion of the dash that is located between the bezels and the portion with the defrost ducts in ebony for a 2007 LTZ style dashboard. At least it looks like the dash is made in a couple of pieces. It would be a bummer to have to buy the whole dash just to get one panel, but I don’t know how they come. A coworker picked up a used truck and unfortunately his dash has several cracks emanating from around the instrument cluster area and passenger side air bag and he hasn’t been able to locate a replacement, of course I believe he’s checked the dealer.

Because there website sucks kind of like there customer service... or at least that's been my personal experience.

I have used Chevrolet Parts, Cadillac Parts, GMC Parts and Buick Parts powered by Nalley Buick GMC | Nalley Buick GMC Brunswick to look up parts in the past. You can see actual diagrams and parts break downs on there site. I tried contacting them in the past with no response So I don't know how good they are to buy from. At least you can see a parts break down so you know you are on the right track.

IIRC the GMT 800 upper dash is around $450 List price.

Keep your Window covered and they wont crack. Go aftermarket for ur dash inlay. Its gonna be cheaper than factory replacement
