Default hemi reg cab killed

Slow night at Memphis motorsports, but last week was a blast, there were two hemis at the track one 2500 4 dr.and a brand new reg cab 1500.I did get to run the half ton.I have an ext.cab 5.3 and weigh 5,100# making maybe 300 hp the dodge we all know makes an advertised 345 hp.I ran my new norm of 15.7 @86 (I lost my steady 15.4 somewhere in the BTE torque converter swap) butit was enough to beat his 15.9 @ 85 with an additional .4 hole shot advantage and it looked like a real whoopin'.They didn't come back this week. '00 silverado ss ran a very impressive 13.18 to back his open challange in the middle of a mustang club area to"Send out your fastest one it's to late outrun all of you".The mustang that answered looked tough, even had his number custom lettered on his windsheald, but his 13.3 got him beat, and made him mad enough to buy a 100hp shot of NOS.Some guy's sure take it bad. This was kind of windy and should be in the kills forum but those vet and f-body guy's aren't impressed by much above 12 sec. Good huntin',Jim (300 GM hp 5,100# beat 345 dodge hp hemi reg.cab must weigh what? 6,200#? must be small horses.)

all dodges ive seen from experiance have a strong 1st gear, probably because of the high torque ratings. but then they just die after that.

This one had a 3.90/1 posi.according to the driver. They will be stronger when aftermarket tuners are available but their claimed hp is way off the mark.Back in the 70's all the road runners and super bee's would show you 140 on their speedometers but I outran all I faced with a 396 Nova that ran about 125.Marketing,I guess most will not run'em hard enough to know they're not fast. Thanks,Jim

I'm impressed grats on the kill. Those new hemis are no slouch for a stock truck. I wonder if Dodge is planning on putting that engine in a car? If so the 12sec guys might have a new opponent to worry about.

The hp ratings on the Hemi are form the flywheel. I attended a speech from an editor from Pontiac Enthusiast explaining how they come up with these numbers. When figuring the hp of the car to advertise they run the engine on a engine dyno taking the readings straight from the flywheel and then plug it into several equations that would make it seem as if it were to be running in perfect conditions. Perfect conditions would be considered sea level with no moisture in the air and the temperature just right.

Well I just raced my uncle's stock quad cab Hemi on 20s and it was pretty close. I beat him of course but by the time we had gone about 1/4 mile I only had less than 2 lengths on him. I think those things have some good flowing intake and exhaust systems from the factory. He says he is putting a blower on when they come out.

I agree they look good under the hood, and they do run a lot better than the 5.9,but there claim of 345hp should have em in the tall 14's and mid 90's.If he's gonna super charge it I'll bet he never sees a mid 13.Sorry not a big Dodge fan right now,got a Dodge Cummins in the shop now haveing to show service records for a warranty repair. Jim
ps how do I hide my signature? I don't need it on every reply. It took me 2 weeks to get back on after the format change I'm not very commputer literate.

hey Jim! The kills on he Dodges were great!
As usual I am busy with work and trying to scope the local market for my future ride . . . might have to buy a sedan, give it to Heather and trade the mazda in and take on a truck note . . . we'll see what happens. . .
