I was watching ABC news with Peter Jennings when he had a very brief report about an soldier in Iraq. The US military is going to court marshall him for an illegal killing because he didn't follow the "rules of engagement". This is total Bull ****! Apparantly he was at a check point and shot the driver of a car when that car didn't stop for the check point. ****, he did exactly what I would have done! What if the car was loaded with explosives, the guy was a suicide driver and he killed every soldier there? What's better, one dead driver who failed to follow the check point laws or X amount of dead soldiers? In my opinion, every citizen Iraq should know by now that you stop at a check point, if you fail to do so, you should be shot! Rules of engagement? Don't fire until fired upon? If those are the "rules", then they need to be change. We're losing a couple of soldiers everyday because we're trying to be nice guys. **** That! We need to get as ruthless as the ******** we're fighting, until we do, we're in a no win situation. I'm very pro military and support our troops 1000% but it seems like very trying to fight a "civilized war". War isn't civilized and you win it by killing more of them!!! I think he did the right thing!

You are so right it is amazing. Those soldiers put their lives at risk for next to nothing so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do and this is how they are treated
. I cant imagine why there were any draft dodgers or why they are having a hard time getting troops over there. My brother is in Afghanistan currently. Those men and women are hero's and should be treated as such

F'n Bullsh1t! They're trying to make an example out of someone to act like they are "cleaning up" the military and tightening the ropes after those video's leaked out! Meanwhile, the pussies in congress who are forcing these issues don't have the ***** to fight a 10yr old.

kinda reminds me when i was on Basalan Island in the Phillapines. We would get pop shots at us all day. If we fired back, that would be our ***. Sometimes the ROE makes no sense. I understand why it is there, but sometimes you have to let it be known that we aren't gonna keep taking this ****.

You know, these damn militants are smart and this may bite us in the ***. If this goes through, it'll be all over CNN just like the prison abuse thing. These guys will see it and use it to their advantage. They know that every soldier at a check point won't shoot them for not stopping because his or her *** would be in a sling too. So they load up their cars and trucks with bombs and start blowing up all the check points. This will result in more lives lost because they are handcuffing our soldiers!

there are a ton of success stories already. all the schools that are open because of us. Females going to school for the first time ever. Better hospitals than what they had before, better electricity (staying on), cleaner water, etc. imho i don't think we are fighting the iraqi's. i think we are fighting militants from other countries. like syria, al quada *******, and so on.

You may want to add most of our "media outlets" to that list of people we are having to fight. You rarely hear about the success stories as you have pointed out, but man do we hear about the problem and difficulties our troops are facing over there. This is one of the reasons I choose not to watch the news on TV any more. I'll get what I need off the Internet and filter it as I need to. I'm sick of bad news.
