Me and the old man went up to grab the food. I was telling him about driving my girlfriend's car while we were out of town and getting back in my truck feeling like the tranny was slipping like hell from the Yank.
He asked what the advantages were from the converter. I nailed it rounding a corner and said see how it pulls so hard and lets the engine rev more before it starts to grab. Then I was telling him about launching it from 2k. I told him it was pretty impressive when I did that.
We topped the hill to find a red light and someone sitting at it already. I pulled next to them, and about the time I got stopped it turned green. While I was bringing it up to a 2000rpm stall the truck next to me started rolling down the hill. It was an old truck and had a good strong exhaust note. It wasn't really loping though. Once I got it up to 2000 rpm I let off the brake and nailed it. It had a little tire spin, very minimal and hooked. The other truck had about half a length on me when I let off the brake. Once I launched I could hear him nail it too. By the time I got off the line good I had him by a half a length and stedily pulled him til he let off or it fell flat when I hit 60'ish.
My dad thought we were going to get pulled over, but it was kewl ..
He used to be an old school racer. He had a 66 Chevelle 396 SS that would run high 11's until he grenaded the engine in a street race.

Nice, but a neon can kill a old truck!!
j/k, nice kill though. How do you like the tt3k? Want to go to this, just keep reading opinions first.
BTW, I have 0 kills, no one wants to race around here and I can't get xlr8nss out to save my life!! jerk

Some of these old beater looking trucks around here have hot motors. I live in a small town and have the same problem you do abotu no one wanting to race. That's why I was so excited about this one. A good rule of thumb for the old trucks here is if the rear tires aren't almost twice as big as the rear tires, then chances are, it's not a stock 350. There are a lot of 'hick' trucks running around with regular size tires on the front and big *** buckshots on the rear that damn near rub the fenders when they go over speed bumps.
The Yank took some getting used to .. not that it has some miles on it and is nice and broken in I love it. If you are concerned about not liking it, buy a used one, that way it will already have the miles on it. A new one will be loose as hell for the first 500 miles or so.
Onyx .. there is a big difference in a Grand Am or Prix. One is a mid-size the other is a small car.
. From experience the GrandAm GT will haul ***, specially if it has the HO v6. They are fun to drive too! My grandmother had one before my dad traded it in on a Dodge Dakota QC that runs like a lumpy terd.

same here, everytime i am at a light, i get no reaction or a race. either i think they want to race so i step on it. and they crawl off the line and go on with their normal driving. or i wait to see if they accelerate harder than i do from a complete stop. so i punch it, blow them away, but it ends up they were driving normally.
my day will come for a kill.

I was leaving the resturaunt me and my girl went to tonite and this damn Honda came flying passed me. I said oh HELL NO!! blah blah blah .. We got up to a light, he's revving his rubber band, making the mouse under the hood squel. No fart can, nothing. I toss a rev or 2 back while I'm in gear, the Yank lets me do it. I bring it up to about a 1500 rpm stall, light finally turns green, I nail it, and got across the 6 lane w/ median intersection while he's still on the other side of the road creeping off the line. I was like .. WTF?!?! Then the chicken **** turns off and I never saw him again. Damn ricers!!!
