Default Got the 6.0 out of the Tahoe...bad news

My dumb *** took the Tahoe to pick up my 6.0 motor. They had to break apart the crate so that they could put the motor into the truck with a fork lift. I got home and realized I have no way of getting it out . So today a buddy of mine from the gym comes over and says we can just lift it out (were both pretty big strong bodybuilder types) so I say we can give it a shot. Ive deadlifted 550 for 12 so how bad can 500 be with 2 guys. Well I tore my F*ing bicep . It looks like the motor swap and turbo install will have to wait until after I can get surgery and recover. This is total bullshit, the worst part is that Im about 5'9 and 240+ were my buddy is 5'7 or so and about 210 and although Im quite a bit stronger in the gym he has substantially more functional strength than I. He barely got dirty . I'll be out for a while it looks like.

Sorry to hear the bad news Troy. Not only will the truck have to wait, but it will severely limit what you can do at the gym. Get well soon.

thank you guys. Ive been on all night trying to figure out how to proceed with my ins co. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield EPO, but Im not sure what their process is. They have 24 hour service, but no one knows anything about anything until the "other group" comes in on Mon. Im going to a walk in clinic tomorrow to get some pain meds. The good news is that its not a full tear from the bottom where it rolls up into the shoulder, I tore one of the tendons in the shoulder so its just really strange and gross looking. Maybe I'll post some pics of the mods that the 6.0 has helped with already!!!!

Sorry to hear you hurt yourself... but be dammed sure to let it heal right so that you don't have problems down the road. Don't go getting impatient and try to do too much too soon. I hurt myself in my 20's and it still hurts 40 yrs later and that has done considerable damage to my lifestyle over the years. You are going to have to learn how to take a deep breath and slow down being VERY careful to not cause further damage. That's the lesson from this mistake. Being "rammy" caused this and now you gotta be measured in all your activities.

Take it from "gramps" who has lots of pains from being young and crazy.

Do any of you have any suggestions as to how to find a really good surgeon? I dont know of anyone who has had this injury that is in my situation. My experience with my pec tear made me realize the substantial difference between a liscensed surgeon and a good surgeon, 2.5 years later and I still dont have all my strength back from that injury. I need to find a well qualified surgeon, but dont know where to look.

Are there any pro sports teams in your area? They'd have some ideas for you. How about a weight lifters club or power lifters gym? Call the Galesburg Il. fire department 309-343-9151 and ask to speak to Capt. Brad Stephenson. He was very active in power lifting nation wide a few years back.

In high school I had a partial tear on my pectoralis tendon and Les Fowler in Tuscaloosa, AL did mine. I was 90% within 6 weeks and 100% in about 6 months. He pretty much does all of the University of Alabama's sports injuries. There is also a good orthopedic surgeon in Birmingham, AL. I don't know his name but he did all of Bo Jackson's stuff, hip replacement etc. Just find out who the pro and college teams in your area use and you should find one top notch. If nothing else you can come up this way. Sucks to be you

Damn guy, that sucks. Can't say that I have ever heard of anyone tearing their bicep.
