end of the cam? maybe we can just buy a program to update out "cam" in the future. No new springs/retainers etc.

I think that would be super cool. I think theres some big industrial diesels that use hydraulic pressure to actuate the valves instead of a cam.
Think about it...You could get max power at every rpm with no tradeoffs. Great low end torque and driveability, then rev to 7000 rpm with insane horsepower. All with a smooth idle.

Definately cool stuff. I believe there are prototype engines running computer controlled electric valve actuators. There are some problems though that still need to be worked out. I'll try to find some articles. It would be like V-TEC EXTREME.
I think the hydraulic diesel stuff works because of the low rpm most big diesels turn. It's not suited to high rpm use do to the "switching" speeds of the hydraulic circuits.

Hmmm....read about this. Ceramic engines. I'm going to check for some other articles.

Off topic but i alway invisioned a vtec chevy bigblock. How cool would it to have a sleeper 502. Have the base cam idle really smooth then at 2000 rpm have the BIG STICK kick in. Or you could go all out and have a big cam that barely idles then on top of that a HUGE one that would never run at anything below 2000-3000 rpm. I thinnk it would make a sweet race engine.
I would love to have a ceramic engine. 150% more power sweet deal to me. No oil changes... Were is the stock for that?
