Default Good deal or not?

Hey a friend of mine asked to swap trucks with me... He has an '81 chevy 1/2 ton stepside with a built 468 (around 500+hp), built turbo 350 tranny, full spool rear end, totally restored (If you could call it that, its not really THAT old), has about $20k in the whole truck. He said as soon as i get the tranny work done he would swap me straight across for the '01. I think its a decent deal... But it really doesnt get the best mileage, so i dunno bout the daily driver thing. It is however a low to mid 12 second truck. I dont really know about this deal, just thought Id ask.

Probably a nice trade if you already had a daily driver but i wouldnt do it if i were you. Your truck is so much newer. Its 100 times more practical for day to day driving and its probably 1,000,000 times more reliable. Not to mention, blue book on your truck is much higher. Like i said, if you were buying it as an extra toy to drive on weekends and tinker with, id do it but not for a daily driver.

Think about it, why would the guy want to trade for your truck if he has 20,000 invested and it was a good daily driver? Theres gotta be a reason.

Keep yours! His may be cool but your is much more practical and much newer so im sure it would have much less problems.

Do it, I have a 468 in my '70 chevy truck and it's unreal the difference in power between a big block and a smallblock. I would put a 8.1L in my 04 if I could, but I don't have an unlimited fund to pull from. I'll eventually build a 402 for my silvy, but for now I just enjoy it as a quiet, smooth, good gasmilage 4.8

I know the guy very well... The truck is in extremely good shape. I even helped him with some of the engine work. But yea, it sure wouldnt be a good daily ride, id have to fill it up every day prolly.... haha
