Default fuel pump difference between 99-03 to 04+

i know the earlier models were return style and then they went to return less..i bought a fuel cell from a member on here and it was made for the stock fuel bucket to drop right in..well when it was on his truck it work his stock one slid right in...well with my fuel bucket theres no way in hell its going to fit..so did the size of the buckets change over the years?

Yes. The 99-03 buckets are much smaller than the 04+ buckets.

Very hard considering how the bucket seals and locks into the tank...

you could always buy an older tank and throw it in, the mounting locations are the same. For instance, I am using a tank from a NNBS 08 truck in my 99 and using an 04 fuel bucket...

Not really...the wiring harness needs wires moved around, the 4 pin one on top. I think the evap connectors are different also.

My suggestion is to resell the tank (or see if he will take it back) and get one that fits yours.

You have a problem there too since GM changed the gauge between the years...you need to switch some wires on the harness and potentially resolder the leads on the float resistor.
