Default Front Clip weight differences?

I have always wondered what makes the progressing years of these trucks heavier. I know that the 03-05 silvys look to have more steel and plastic on their front ends than my 99 GMC. Does this extra material amount to the extra 50-100 pounds that the later years have? I know the NNBS are heavier but they have a completely different frame design so I am not talking about them, just the differences from 99-07

don't see why the 03-07 classic has more weight, the grilles are all plastic there's no more metal then the 99-02 trucks.

See thats what I think, I know my bumper looks to have more steel showing than the 06, but the fenders and hood definetly have more surface area, just don't know if the weight difference is in the front end.

I cant see where else it may be though because cab back, we all have the same frame, and stock provisions such as spare and tow package if added.

03+ trucks do have alot more brackets for the front bumper, isnt the steering on the 03+ trucks different? Different electrical? Cant really think of what else it would be other then that there

Yea, I was going to mention more bracketry possibly, plus the 03 hood appears to be a little beefier, although there is a tad less fender
