I'm a claims adjuster, so let me explain it to y'all. If it's saltwater & gets inside just enough to soak the carpet, the vehicle is totalled. If it's freshwater and the water gets above the lower edge of the dash, the vehicle is totalled.
You may can drive it for a few months or a few years before electrical gremlins start showing up. It's not a question of if you'll have problems, but when the problems will start.
If you buy it, make sure they throw in a huge bottle of aspirin because it's gonna cause you a lot of headaches!

Well I went back out to the junk yard and looked at the truck one last time...I left it there. Everything on the truck that was supposed to move freely was seized up, every electrical connection was corroded. There were so many relays/harnesses missing, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Man i came across a 08 GMC nnbs reg cab that was black in the junk yard one day. Was complete didnt look like anything was wrong with it. I asked the owner about it and he said it had salt water damage. I was like ouch. He said yeah i wouldn bother tryin to sell it as whole, only for parts. He said all the wires and panels will eventually rust out from salt water. So, yeah man wise choice!

As Roger mentioned, never ending electrical problems I've worked on many, many flooded vehicles through the years, and once the corrosion starts, it never stops. Modules, connectors, grounds...it will never end. Not to mention all of the corrosion that will be "welding" metal nuts and bolts together...any mod or repair in the future will more than likely be twice as much of a PITA than usual due to the rust
