Default Fellow Pacesetter dudes inside...(?)

I am ready to install my new yank verter and was wondering if the y-pipe hangs down far enough for my tranny to be slid back enough to change out the verter. The reason I'm asking is because mine's welded and I've cut it once to drop the tranny, so I'd rather not cut it again. It looks so close I was going to see if anyone here has done it (I jacked up the truck but with my fat head I can't get a good look)...Thanks guys

I don't see how man but it was for this exact reason that I welded flanges on my pacesetters so I could drop it. If I were you I'd do the same

V-bands won't leak. I don't know if you can get the trans back far enough without removing the exhaust and if you do its gonna be a major pita.

If you use a plasma cutter you can just patch it back up with band clamps. I had mine like that for a long time before I finally had it welded back up with flanges.

I just had mine out about a month ago. I don't think there is enough room. You will be better off cutting it. My $0.02

I have used a couple of different types of flanges. Currently I have V-bands and could not be happier, no leaks and removing the Y-pipe is really simple and easy... I have had standard 3 bolt flanges and they leaked cause the flange itself warps when you torque them down... I also used doubled up 3bolt flanges (2 3bolt flanges welded together) and they don't leak... I have never tried bland clamps... I really liked the Vbands, cause there is no gasket to leak or blow out... But they are kinda expensive $34 x 2 as compared to doubled 3-bolt flanges $6.95 x 4...

Thanks a lot for the info, I've been told the standard 3 bolts have issues. Looks like I'll look into the v-bands
