Default Explain this phenomenon

How in the hell does this happen? Drive down the road at 85mph, windows down back glass open, all of a sudden a damn coke can in the bed flies through the open back glass. And not just cans,, bottles, leaves, & wadded up McDonalds bags arent immune either. Does the air swirl in the truck bed and make a vortex or something?!?!

p.s- I am bored

Yes to the vortex. The air coming over the top of the cab creates a vortex right down in the back of the bed.

It is quite common for stuff in the bed to fly up like that.

Crazy sometimes to see stuff flying up and not flying out. Kinda distracting watching it in the rearview mirror.

Yeah, I used to have an old Ford Ranger and it did the same thing. It had been so long since it had happened, that when it happened today I laughed my *** off and wondered why it happens.

on my old truck it would always get piled up with trash and other crap back there and driving down the road you could watch it just spin in the air in the bed area

I found out with my old 90 c-1500 that you shouldn't have the rear window open, when your hauling a load of very dry sand.

That is the gospel if I have ever heard it! I had about a ton of dirt in my old Ranger's bed and didnt even think about it. Next thing ya know it was Dustbowl 1997 inside the cab. I swear that Ranger could have sucked a rottweiller through the back glass.

I did that with mulch with my old S-10 one day. It was a good lesson learned.
