Default Exhaust done - did you all keep your stocker after?

Just wondering if it would be beneficial for me to return to the exhaust shop and get my stocker muffler back. I did not think to keep it at the time.

Is it worth while to hold on to?

Got my magnaflow single in dual out, exiting behind each rear tire at 45 deg., 3 1/2 inch 15 degree slant cut tips. The shop did great work. Its not a full catback, just muffler, piping and tips. Got it done for 390 out the door fully welded (not sure if thats a fair price or not)

the stock one is not worth keeping, I think we I got mine done like that on my last truck it was 300 so I guess it depends on where you live and who you know.

Thanks. This was a shop that specialized in trucks and I think thats why the price was kind of high for what I got. But, live and learn. I was going to go to another shop but was there and wanted it done. Plus the owner had a sick blown 03 rcsb GMC with the denali front end and true duals exiting in front of the rear wheels on each side so I figured he might now something I or another shop did not. I do feel I paid a little on the high side when I consider for a 100 more I could of had a full magnaflow catback shipped and installed.

In a year or two I think im going to save and grab the full catback, I was just longing for some rumble out of her.

really from what you did their is not much of a difference in performance. uUnitl you really get up into high horsepower I wouldn't spend the extra money for a system I rather build my own. So how does it sound. I am putting my 1 chamber flowmaster 3in 3 out dumped on tomorrow. can you say NASTRUCK

It sounds great, its the 18 inch case. SOTP feel and all, not much improvement over stock but I did not expect much I was just more looking for the exhaust note. Good point though, I am going to just have a catback done when I find a better priced local shop and have them do it. Figure I could get it done for the same price if not cheaper, maybe even use the same muffler. Next up is a tune and shift kit and servos. After that, i'll hang loose for awhile and look around for a good price on having a catback made locally for me.

What about smog? I thought about cat removal but how hard is it to remove and put back on for smog? I was also concerned about throwing codes and such. I dont have Edit. Is it necessary to edit and tune when these are removed?

I had a flowmaster 1 in 2 out with pipes for 225.00.The owner of that shop can afford that truck at the prices they are charging.

2000 sportside, do you know what a 1 chamber is? it's exactly half of the muffler you had on your truck. It's pretty much just used for racing or stupid people like me who like everything loud.

Kind of what I figured. I have a knack for finding people to overcharge me for stuff. Just seems to be in my nature. Atleast I know better for next time. I really need to shop around more. They were just on Magnaflows site as a recommended installer so that is where I went.

Atleast I got a killer deal on my Volant from TByrne so I dont feel too bad. It sounds pretty cool though, when you let off around 2.5 3 grand you get that cool light glasspack like nascaresque burble and popping for a second. I like it, dont like what I paid, but I like it.
