I've been in the kick to mod my truck more latly, what can I do to turn my fans on when I want them on but still let the PCM run them?

Tap into the wire that goes to the PCM and run a wire with a switch to ground, then you can ground the wire just like the PCM does and the fans will operate on low at your command. Depending on how your ac/high fans are wired, you can either run a second wire with a second switch for high fan operation (you will need a diode in the wire so that you don't engage the compressor clutch when you flip the switch), then you can choose low or high when you want the fans on.

sounds fairly simple. how would I find the wire that runs the fans on low? also how would I figure out if my ac/high fans are wired? its a 05..

If its an 05 you should have the two pin harness, in which case, find the blue and green wires connected to the pcm and tap into them and install a 3 position DPDT switch like this

up is low, middle is auto, down is high

the typical current to flip relays is 330ma, so 18ga will be fine, 14 is overkill.

nothing else, just the switch.

The 3 position DPDT switch is simple and clean also, was going to mention that too but had a senior moment
