I agree with that, it's wierd how GM rated the 00-02 5.3L at 285 hp and 325 tq but the 01's were quicker than the 00's and the 02's were quicker than the 01's? I know GM bumped the 5.3L rating in 03-04 to 295 hp and 330 tq, I was going by what I know for sure, my 04 Ram is quicker than my 00 Silverado. Also, from what I've been told, the 03 Hemi Rams and quicker than the 04's because of the PCM tuning and TM.
I dunno, I'm trying! My first trip to the track with my Silverado it had a K&N FIPK, Flowmaster 70 Series muffler and an HPP. I only got two runs in, it ran a 15.50 and 15.33, don't remember the mph. So I do know what the Silverado did when I do get to the track to compare it to the Ram. The Silverado weighed 4810 lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas, I'll weigh the Ram to see how it compares. Superchips is suppose to have a programmer out with a month or two, if I can afford to get one, I will to have the 1/4 comparison test the same as far as mods go. Yes the Hemi has more hp & tq but it's moving a heavier truck and far bigger wheels and tires than what was on my Silverado so that makes even in my opinion.

When I drove the hemi I heard there was a blower for it to make 500hp.. But after I drove a stock one and then drove the durmax chevy and the Harley supercharged.. I found it the Hemi is not what it use to be..

 

I played around w/ a black 5.3 rc/swb on 20's w/ cut outs and cold air and he really put up a fight. I think he was impressed that my truck ran as well as it did because he asked me 3 times are you sure its stock? I had nothing more than cold air kit and a dynomax. He was claiming to run 14.20s so I'm sure something else was up w/ the truck but it did run good.

 

Holy crap, whats been said that hasnt been said 500x before! The Hemis are good engines, in a different solar system than the old 5.9Ls. The 5.3L Chevys are good engines. Everybody just be happy and mod on...

Hemi's and us LS guys should work on spankin lightnings, not argueing over who has the best engine.

The "bad" part about spanking L's is that they are so fast to begin with and Mopar is making it very tough to get another PCM and there is very little aftermarket right now. At least you Chevy guys have a lot of aftermarket and I see a lot of LS1/6 swaps going on. I would LOVE to have a turbocharged LS-1 in a S-10!
