Default Drop spindle question

So after having a 0/2 drop for about a year I want to go lower (big surprise I know). Anyway, my question is about drop spindles. I am looking to end up at a 3/5 total drop.

I have seen on here that some of them sacrifice steering angle, but all the threads about those seem to be older, or for 16" spindles. My truck was originally a 16" truck but I now have aftermarket 18" wheels on it. I plan on getting a 17" spare anyway since I am retrofitting the later calipers onto the front so the spare won't clear anyway.

Have the designs been updated? Do I still need to worry about losing angle, or having to grind down the new one to get my angle back?

Finally, I have been looking at different spindles and the older ones seemed like different designs between the manufacturers but the new ones look very similar between brands. Is there a valid reason to buy one over another? Even the generic eBay ones look identical to the name brands, but the metallurgy could always be different.

I know it looks like my front tire will be close to rubbing with the drop, but I am picking up some skinnier fronts before I drop it (current are 285/60R18).

look into some 265/60-18s once you get the drop on.

Supposedly belltech has a newly improved design.

I used the 16" and still did the mod so I could gain as much as I could. I can link you to my thread.

Thanks for the help guys, I ended up getting a set of Belltech 2508 spindles. Truck looks so much better now. I did have to trim my lower balljoint a bit even though I have 18s. I haven't gotten new front tires yet but I am thinking those 265/60R18s blackchev mentioned should do the trick.

I am still thinking 3/5 would be a good end goal. Anyone know how much shorter the V6 springs are? I currently have those, so I would like 1" lower than that. Since all of the spring manufactures just say they don't support V6 trucks it is difficult to find a reference.

I am planning on the 2" spindles I already have in front along with a 1" drop spring once I find one. For the back I am looking at a flip kit and notch. I currently have 2" shackles but they will get replaced with the flip.

I don't think the V6 springs are physically shorter, just rated for less load.
Assuming you have a V6 truck, if you went with a V8 drop coil it would just make your ride stiffer imo.

Perhaps you could PM Kris at TheSuspensionSource and she can help you out...... or buy V8 coils and swap in LS

I have an LQ4 on the stand in my garage already. Gathering parts to throw a cam in before it goes in the truck, just getting the suspension sorted in the meantime.

Kris is who I bought the spindles from actually, I talked to her on the phone before I got them and she was very helpful.
