Talking Driveshaft

I was thinking about switching to maybe a lightweight driveshaft. I am not sure what the current one weights or what ooptions we have for this. I haven't heard of anyone doing this. What's the deal?

The driveshafts from the factory are aluminum. At least the one in my extended cab is. Pretty light.

well they are hollow... none of them are going to be very heavy... just less rotational mass...

How do you know if you have an aluminum driveshaft? Is there a code in the glovebox that would indicate that? If so, can someone post the codes for both the steel & aluminum.....thanks.

Magnet sticks to steel and not to aluminum.

If your driveshaft is rusty, then it is made of steel.
