After leaving the dealership I arrived at a red light, and I figured it was time to see how badly the 5.3 and 4.10 gears would shred the 245/75-16 tires. The light turned green, I put the hammer down, and then...crickets chirping...nothing. I meekly crawled away from the light, and finally at about 4000 rpm the 5.3 started to show signs of life. It felt good up to the 1-2 shift, where it suddenly fell on its face for a geriatric shift into second gear. After checking the window sticker to confirm I bought a 5.3 not a 4.3, I suspected torque management was the problem. While underwhelmed by the Silverado's performance I knew it had potential, it just needed an attitude adjustment.

That musta been you that I'm thinkin of that was lookin for them then, my bad. I knew who made the wheels & where too (Italy). In article, I think John Ulazek said Tire Rack sold them, but I woulda forgot who sold unless I reread that or your reply.

Maybe 1 day you'll find a set on Ebay or Craig's, etc. Good luck.

My 5.3 3.42 G80 sure wouldn't spin from stop when new.
Posi prolly helped that, but even now that TqMgmt is 100% gone & I've done mods, it only spins for 5-25' (depending), maybe a tad more.
That's for a 15.0 - 15.1 ET truck. I woulda thought when I 1st bought, I'd be able to smoke tires off.

Barely spins now w/. these Grabber HTS in a bigger rear size, but old Americraps were worse for spin.

"Yes, I called the Autotrac an AWD transfer case in the article. In hindsight I wish I had done some more research on the differences between the Silverado SS's AWD and the K1500's Autotrac option but I just ran out of time and mental horsepower.

The Autotrac is a $375.00 option, that must have been a typo that made it to publication, I don't have the article in front of my to confirm.

Definition aside, the Autotrac has worked really well for me with the power levels I have right now and kicked butt at the autocross. It was a rainy day and I never once got the truck loose as long as it was in Auto 4wd."
