Default Dimming headlights???

I have LS-1 fans w/ Nelson harness, ASP underdrive crank and overdrive alternator pulleys, a 130A alt and a yellow top Optima battery and I noticed that when I'm going down the road @ night with the A/C on my lights will flicker and the volt meter will drop a little just for a second and then go back to normal (it also does it durring the day but I dont notice it like @ night). It will only do this with the A/C on so I figure its got to be when it cycles. I have also upgraded my alt to dist block and block to chassis wires but didnt get a chance to upgrade my battery to ground wire. Is this normal or is something wrong?? THANKS!!

My 200 amp alt drops from 14.2 to low 13's when the fans kick on high, then comes back up to 13.8 or so. I would think that as long as your voltage doesn't flutter you're probably ok.

You might want to try connecting a wire directly from the alt to battery +, battery - directly to ground, and engine block directly to ground as well....don't worry about the dist block, bypass it completely. It's connected to the battery cable anyway.

What about upgrading the battery to chassis ground, would that help?? Also do you think upgrading to a newer 145A alt vs. the 130A alt I have on there now would make any difference?? THANKS!!

It definitely can't hurt to upgrade the battery to chassis ground, and it also can't hurt to upgrade to a 145 amp alt. I don't know how much of a difference you will notice from 130 to 145, but I noticed a huge difference from 105 to 200.
